Before we moved out of the smoke, we made a regular pilgrimage to Kuaoutunu (initially on Mr Bell's recommendation) to eat enormous ice creams.Then Te Kao started to get a bit of press attention because theirs were alleged to be even humoungouser.The Librarian and I went up to Whangaroa for lunch this avo, then coastwise to Matauri Bay - mondo gorgeous. We then made a major error and stopped at SH10 Seafood Takeaways at Waipapa for an ice cream. Hint: their single kiddie cone is the size of a Pokeno three scoop, their adult single is about as big as Kuaoutunu make their big yins. I have no photos: I wasn't going to touch the camera with the amount of meltdown I had on my maulers. If you try them on for size if you are in the North and get messed up (almost a guarantee, I would think) there is a tap on the forecourt of the BP next door which is good for sluicing yourself off before you put your gloves or helmet back on.
