Sunday 19th August. Monthly ride, destination Waitomo.

Meet 9.00am for a 9.30 departure  BP Service Centre located Southern Motorway between the Papakura and Drury off ramps.

There are some serious roads between here and Waitomo, don’t be missing out. Come to think of it, there’s probably a gravel option screaming out for attention on the way back home.

For anyone looking for more riding, there’s a good chance that I will ride to New Plymouth on Saturday morning arriving around mid-day, stay overnight,  join the team in Waitomo for lunch Sunday and ride back to Auckland with the group. My aim will be to visit my Dad on Saturday, if hanging out in a rest home with me and my Dad is not your thing then the Naki is literally dripping with great rides that can easily fit into an hour or two or three or four. Travel Lodge is my “go to” accommodation place these days and splitting costs probably keeps accommodation at under $50.00 for Saturday night. The irony here is that I’m sensitive around accommodation costs but I’ll do the degustation menu with wine match at Okurukuru Winery (15mins along the surf highway south) coinciding with the west coast sunset and I don’t care what it costs. I swear that dinner experience is good for the soul.
