WHAT IS THE REGISTER It is a national organisation of people interested in BMW motorcycles and has a membership of approximately 700. Note the term used is "interested in", as you do not have to currently own a BMW motorcycle in order to join the Register. It is possible to join as an Associate member, subject to being nominated by two financial members. Past full members who no longer own a BMW motorcycle but who retain an interest in the BMW marque, may become Associate members and do not require nomination. If you were previously a member, your membership number has been held for you and you may rejoin as of right. Experience shows that many who sell their BMW, come back to the marque eventually or retain a lasting interest. Your previous period of membership remains active and is added onto any later membership years for your ten year pin. It should be mentioned that participating partners are also classed as financial members and have full rights. They pay an annual fee set at 10% of the annual subscription.
ACTIVITIES AND ORGANISATION Members of the Executive can be resident in any part of New Zealand. Area Representatives are responsible for organising and co- ordinating runs, informal meetings and social occasions. Your local BMW dealer will be able to put you in touch with the Area Rep closest to you. Otherwise write to the Register at P O Box 109-245, Newmarket, Auckland. A monthly meeting is held in Auckland on the second Monday of each month, usually at the Vintage Car Club Rooms, 39 Fairfax Avenue, Penrose, Auckland, at 8 pm. Runs and activities are organised in most centres each month (sometimes two or more) and in addition there is an Annual Rally early in January (alternating in the South and North Islands); the North Island RAG Rally in March; and the AGM at the beginning of October. NEWSLETTER One of the benefits of membership is receiving our monthly newsletter. It is noted for being informative and entertaining, which is largely due to the high quality of articles submitted by members. REGALIA Clothing and badges with the Register insignia are available to members. Order forms may be obtained from the Regalia Officer. INSURANCE An insurance scheme is available through the Register for members who are 30 years of age or over. Your local BMW dealer will be able to arrange for your membership, should you wish to join the Register for this reason . |
